  COVID-19 MEASURES: FOR TEACHERS/THERAPISTS

Spreading COVID-19     Assess overall wellbeing prior to teaching a session following the latest government advice (see above)   Medium Follow current government guidance and stay alert to minimise risk of exposure to COVID in a class setting.   Regular hand washing is the priority for preventing transmission of infection. WHO guidance is wash hands frequently and properly with, hot water and soap for minimum of 20 seconds.   Also avoid touching your face.   Use antibacterial/anti viral hand sanitising gel (60% alcohol min.) before, during and after sessions as well as upon arrival and departure from the venue.   If Teacher/Therapists has any COVID-19 symptoms as above,  either cancel the session or to find a replacement. Spreading COVID-19   Preparing for  sessions   Avoid public transport when travelling to venues if possible. Wash or sanitise hands on arrival. Spreading COVID-19 through venue set up   Clients to bring own mats.   Provide  hand sanitiser at the entrance and all participants wash / sanitise their hands upon arrival.   Plan layout of class ensure social distancing rules can be maintained     Medium Teacher/Therapist to allow 20 mins between each sessions to ensure cleaning of equiment, surfaces, chairs, therapy table, equipment with antiviral solution or wipes.   Teacher/Therapsit his/her own  gloves to be used for cleaning the venue.   Bin bags for disposal of wipes, gloves, masks etc. These should be sealed and disposed off in bin outside   Clean the floors between sessions with appropriate antibac/antiviral floor cleaner.   Wear  gloves for cleaning the floors which is only used for this purpose.     Low

Spreading COVID-19 through participant contact and equipment use, within venues and studios. Class/session sizes are reduced to ensure a minimum 2m distance between teacher and all participants.   Provide verbal instruction only.   Teacher to monitor participants while entering and leaving venue to ensure social distancing.   Avoid participants being face to face.     Medium Teachers only - No tactile cueing. Therapsits follow their gov body guidelines.   Teachers/Therapists should wear a mask or visor when teaching and avoid touching their face. Follow Gov guidelines     Within a studio, ensure equipment is arranged to reduce incidents of face-to-face clients.   All floors are to be wiped clean after each session.   In studio sessions, equipment will need to be wiped down by a participant/teacher/therapists before the next participant uses it   Floors and equipment should be dry before the next session.       Low

Spreading COVID-19 through unwell participants Participants are not to attend sessions if they are unwell or feel unwell as detailed above.   Screen clients night before session.   Vulnerable persons who are ‘shielding’ or self-isolating are to not attend in-person sessions.   Participants are not to attend sessions if they have come into contact with a person who has tested positive for Covid-19 in accordance with government guidelines.   High Teacher to ask participants if they are feeling well at the start of the session.   Clients to complete and sign a covid Risk form so they are aware of the risks.   If a participant states they feel unwell, they are requested to leave the venue.     Low

Spreading COVID-19 via travel to sessions   Participants are requested to follow government guidelines on travel.   Medium Participants to use masks if using public transport on way to the venue. Low
Spreading COVID-19 within the venue Participants to wait outside the venue. They are required to socially distance prior to entering the venue and await instruction prior to entering/leaving the venue.   All doors remain open during entry and exit to reduce contact with surfaces.   Participants are to wash their hands/or use hand sanitiser at the start and end of every session and will refrain from physical contact with each other.   Participants may be encouraged to wear socks to avoid contact with the floor and mats.   Rooms should be well ventilated between and during sessions.   Medium Participants can bring their own hand sanitiser and wear their own face masks during sessions – teacher discretion (or teacher decides the rule).   Participants to bring their own mats and equipment.   Participants are required to arrive wearing suitable exercise clothing and no use of changing facilities.   Toilets are discouraged from use unless absolutely necessary.   Wipe down surfaces touched before/after use. Teachers/venue to provide wipes.   Toilets use – please follow H & S instructions.   Wipe commonly touched surfaces, e.g door handles between sessions.   No food on the premises. Water only.   Low

Spreading COVID-19 via administration Participants are encouraged to pre-pay for their sessions via online banking.   All health forms and other documentation is to be sent electronically.   Exchanging of cash and paperwork is discouraged.   Low If paperwork and cash needs to be exchanged, it should be placed in an envelope/folder. Hands should be washed/ sanitised after handling and paper quarantined for at least 48 hours before handling again.   Names and tel no.of all attendees kept for each session Low
    Added Notes for the Reformer Studio – 25th July. Sent to all reformer teachers prior to a phased re-opening.   Cleaning: Clients clean their reformer after use. They use their own bin next to their reformer to dispose of the paper towels. There are bin liners in the cubby holes in the reformer studio and in the first floor cupboard. Each bin used by clients must be tied at the top and disposed of in another bin liner and put in the ground floor cupboard and dated. All covid waste is to be kept for 78 hrs before it is disposed of. Key for ground floor cupboard above the fire alarm on the ground floor. Waste to be put in the Market waste area which is next to the studio on the left. CODE C169 Clean the floor after your sessions but not between clients. Timing. We will require 15 mins between clients and 20 mins between teachers. Time to make sure the studio is clean and aired (please leave windows open) and you and client(s) have left the studio. No water is available – please ask clients to bring their own. No food in the studio. Toilets Each floor has it’s own toilets. We have asked you all to use the toilets on the floor you are working on. We have two toilets; one for clients and one for teachers. All have notices on how to use the toilets and how to wash your hands. Clients to come changed  - no use of the changing rooms or showers. Health forms. You will need to ensure all your client fill out a health form before arriving. You can use ours or your own. These are the current guidelines from the NHS Contact the client the night before to ensure they have no symptoms. Clients understand the risks of coming into the studio and agree to the risks. PPE All TEACHER to greet clients wearing a surgical mask. ​All clients will be asked to come to the appointment wearing a face covering. Gloves are at your discretion. You can then decide between yourselves should you wish to continue to use them throughout the class. Gloves – Gloves must be used when using the cotton handles of the reformer. Sock with sticky bottoms also need to be used. Please do not use any equipment – ie weights/balls/rings unless you clean them thoroughly with detergent afterwards. Arriving for your appointment Clients must arrive on time for their appointment.  All teachers to come down and let the clients in. Clients must either wash their hands or use the hand sanitiser before moving into the Pilates studio.
