Post-pregnancy is a unique time for mothers and babies. During this time women are prone to stress, dealing with sleep deprivation and adjusting to a changing body. This is why postnatal yoga concentrates on nurturing and support. It is a great way to get into shape without needing a babysitter! The classes are designed to offer a fun, supportive and pleasant environment in which to bond with your little one. It is postnatal recovery for vitality and healing, with a mix of practices passive stretching and rhythmic movement that combine with singing and action songs for the baby. The sessions usually end with a period of relaxation. These sessions will help with;

  • Stabilizing the pelvis
  • Toning the abdominal region
  • Supporting the lower back
  • Releases tension in shoulders and neck muscles
  • Decreases overall stress and promotes relaxation
  • Rejuvenates the mind and increases energy
  • Brings fun and pleasure to both parent and baby
  • Provides an opportunity to connect with other parents

These classes are taken by our Pre & postnatal yoga specialist Médea Váczy. We suggest waiting until six weeks postnatal following a natural birth and eight weeks postnatal following a C-section before you join these classes.  The Mother and baby classes are suitable for babies from six weeks to pre-crawling and we have a maximum of ten Mummies and babies in a class. Babies can lie next to you on a mat and you need to feed, change or soothe your baby at anytime during the session, feel free to do so.

These informal classes are held in the comfortable environment of the Greenwich Pilates studio, right in the heart of Greenwich. Parking can be found in the Sainsbury's or Picturehouse car park. All the equipment is supplied and we will ask you to fill in a health form (do it online here) at your first session. Please wear something comfortable.
